STAPLES Center has clearly established itself as the entertainment and sports centre of the world. This AEG owned and operated arena continues to distinguish itself as the host of several high-profile events of national and international distinction.

This indoor arena in downtown LA, California is home to LA Lakers and LA Clippers basketball teams, the LA Kings hockey team, and the LA Sparks WNBA team. The last five Lakers championships (2000, 2001, 2002, 2009, 2010) have been earned while the basketball team has called the $407 million Staples Center home. Several of the team's retired jerseys are on display at the arena, including those of Jerry West, Wilt Chamberlain, Earvin "Magic" Johnson, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Shaquille O'Neal and broadcaster Chick Hearn.

Staples Center is the venue for major performers touring the U.S. – Prince, Paul McCartney, Jay Z, U2 and Taylor Swift, just but a few. And 2009, it's where the world paid tribute to the late Michael Jackson. They have the Grammy Awards here every year.

Located adjacent the LA Convention Center complex, STAPLES Center covers more than 950,000 square feet of space. Architects NBBJ Sports and Entertainment created a state-of-the-art facility which incorporates 2,500 tons of structural steel, 73,000 cubic yards of concrete and 3.8 million feet of broadcast production cable.

Construction began in 1998 and the arena was opened just one year later. The project was funded privately for around 375 million US Dollars and is named to Staples, Inc. that was among the center's main corporate sponsors that bought naming rights. This arena opened up in 1999, with a E Street Band and Bruce Springsteen concert as the inaugural event.

In the summer of 2010, improvements were made to this arena, which included renovated locker rooms for Clippers, Lakers and Kings, and installation of a HD center hung video score board that replaced the original one which was in place ever since the arena opened up in 1999.
