The current site of the Hollywood Bowl was picked in the year 1919 by H. Ellis Reed and William Reed. They were on assignment from the Theatre Arts Alliance to find an ideal location for performances outdoors. They chose a spot known as Daisy Bell in Bolton Canyon. It was shaded and already a popular picnic spot. It later became the home of the Hollywood Bowl that was opened in 1922.
